How to Properly Track and Optimize a Marketing Funnel
Well, one of the things that I’ve discovered over the years is that there’s no tracking system that’s perfect. So the first thing you need to do is use multiple systems to track your entire funnel, and you’ll need to set up tracking at every single conversion point of your funnel.
So, when we’re taking on a new client, we use a few different systems. The first thing we use is the Facebook tracking pixel that you can get from within their system, and we’ll place a tracking pixel at every conversion point, so there will be one after the opt-in and then one after each sale if there’s multiple sales in the funnel.
We also use a piece of software called Visual Website Optimizer, and we install that on every single page of the website. And so what that will allow us to do is actually create a test, and it’s a conversion test that they call it in their system. And we can actually set up conversion points within that system, and you’ll be able to see the full funnel conversion.
And we use that along with the Facebook tracking and any CRM system that our clients are using, and we look at all three of those points of data to be able to fully see how the funnel is converting at every point.
