UVA Club of Seattle: Startups and Entrepreneurship Panel Discussion

All alumni, friends, and families were invited to join the UVA Club of Seattle and the Darden Seattle Chapter as we jointly presented a panel on Startups and Entrepreneurship. The panel discussion was followed by Q&A with four fellow UVA graduates who are in the startup and entrepreneurship space. Tilden Winston (CLAS ‘21) moderated the panel discussion.

Panelists:

Dan Snyder (CLAS ‘89), CEO and Founder, The Playbook

Bio:

Dan Snyder is an early-stage commercial development executive with over 20 years of experience in driving growth and building value in venture-backed life science companies addressing both research and regulated clinical markets across a wide range of technology areas including genomics, proteomics, immunology, and single cell analysis. He has led several companies from commercial startups through M&A events and managed product development and clinical research programs from design concept through to regulatory approval.

As CEO and Founder of The Playbook, Dan currently acts as Head of Customer Development for several seed and Series A stage life science companies. He received his BA in Economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the College of William and Mary.

Logan Clements (CLAS ‘14), Event Producer and Owner, Logan Strategy Group

Bio:

Logan Clements, owner of Logan Strategy Group, has over eight years of in-person and virtual event planning and project management experience, with a passion for people, to-do lists, and problem-solving. She’s worked with agencies, professional sports teams, brands, start-ups, non-profits, and individuals, to make memorable experiences in the US, China, and around the world. Specializing in sports, conferences, and non-profit events, Logan loves working in multicultural and multilingual environments and speaks Mandarin Chinese. Over the last few years, she’s managed over 120 speakers for a virtual conference, produced the sports presentation at the Tokyo Olympics, virtual webinars, workshops, and several multi-day, multi-session virtual conferences through Zoom, StreamYard, Vimeo, and YouTube. Outside of events, she can be found reading mystery/thriller novels, enjoys trying street-food tours in new cities she visits, and loves trying new sports.

Matt Attaway (DAR ‘14), Director of Strategic Finance, GitHub

Bio:

Matt Attaway is a tech finance executive with experience managing revenue and investments across a range of cloud business models. He spent five years growing his knowledge at Microsoft on teams including Central FP&A, Azure business management, and Azure long-range revenue planning, where he focused on developer operations and services from licensing to PaaS and SaaS. He was a member of the team that led the acquisition of GitHub by Microsoft in 2018 for $7.5B, developing close ties with the GitHub Strategic Finance team.

Shortly after the acquisition, Matt joined GitHub and is fortunate now to lead a team of exceptional finance professionals as the Director of Strategic Finance, Investments.

Stefan Bozik (DAR ‘14), CEO & Director of Innovation, La Matera

Bio:

Stefan Bozik is the Founder and CEO of La Matera, a fashion accessories brand working with artisans in Central and South America to create high-quality products with indigenous designs. Since purchasing La Matera, Stefan has grown the business more than 10x through D2C and B2B channels. Stefan has spent 7 years mastering e-commerce, digital marketing, content creation, and branding. Prior to La Matera, Stefan graduated from the Darden School of Business, managed a department of 90 people at McMaster-Carr, and was an investment banker at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. On the weekends, Stefan can be found skydiving, surfing, eating chips and salsa, hanging with his family, and working on new business ventures.
